The photo of Jinny supplied by the client. |
The first step is to sketch Jinny on a separate sheet of paper. Once happy with the sketch, it is then transferred onto the velour paper. |

For Jinny's portrait I started with her eyes. Although they are quite dark on the photo, I have added more colour and detail for the artwork. |
Soft pastels are used for the base colours. Some detailed areas are now started and the collar. |

Step 5 |

Using hard pastels and pastel pencils, detail is added to Jinny's head. Darker colours are also started. |
For Jinny's body and ears, soft pastels are used for the base colours. Again, detailed areas are done using hard pastels and pastel pencils. |

Step 7 |

The background is started. Now Jinny doesn't quite look like she's 'floating'. Meanwhile, more detail in the fur is added. |
The rest of the background is done, as are the final touches. The white areas on her body, nose and eyes, are reworked. |
